When ready to save the file as another graphical image, one clicks File>Export and can then save the files as tif, jpg, png, gif or a host of others.ħ. That image was later sent back to Affinity Photo.Ħ. I made some modifications within Anthropics Smart Photo Editor. Affinity Photo has fully functional layers and masks.ĥ. Although it's not part of this tutorial, one could create a new layer to blend in the changes later. All of these will open in their own interface, allow you to make changes, and then will return you to Affinity photo with changes intact. As you can see, if you click on the Downloaded image for figure 4., you can see there is a rather extensive list of plugins that can be incorporated into Affinity Photo. I decided to use a plugin for some further changes to the processed image. The interface and icons are similar to Photoshop and were very familiar to me.Ĥ. The Photo Persona offers many more editing tools and access to filters and plugins. Affinity Photo will then move the image into the Photo persona for continued editing (much like LR moves a photo into PS CC). At the completion of using the Develop panels, one clicks a button that says Develop. Like Lightroom, the Develop persona is good for making universal changes to exposure, tone, detail and noise reduction.ģ. If one imports any of the various RAW files, Affinity Photo will open in the "Develop" personaĢ. File>Open and chose a dng file from my photo archives. One can do everything within Affinity Photo, without having to leave the program, save a file, then reopen again to finish processing. I wrote this tutorial just to give a brief overview of the steps to convert a RAW (dng) image to a processed. At a one time cost of $49.99, it's almost impossible to beat for a quality photo editor. It will process RAW images all the way through to a processed image file (most standard formats included), and allow one to incorporate Photoshop Plugins from within the program. If anyone is looking for a backup (or replacement) program to the Adobe LR/PS CC Subscription, I highly recommend Affinity Photo by Serif.

I hope some of them appear useful in any way to you at some point. I wonder, what is your nationality, Animo Pron? What country on Earth has a citizen with such incredible imagination and skills to present it to others? They should transmit it on TV channels like Animal Planet or National Geographic Wild (after midnight, of course) with a title like “Proper ways of collecting stallion sperm for horse breeding” or something similar, heheh. You can use the command to pull the patched boot image from the device to the PC.ĭevelopers often go through cycles of testing and debugging during the development process, and also after it, to iron out bugs/issues. And this is when the ADB Pull command can specifically be helpful. Transferring the image via MTP/File Transfer mode is known to corrupt the file. Now before you can flash the patched boot image to your device, you must first transfer it from your device’s storage to the PC. So, you can use the ADB Push command to transfer zip files to a temporary directory ( /tmp/*) and flash it right from there.Īnother situation is while you’re installing Magisk on your device, in where you patch the stock boot image using Magisk. But that shouldn’t stop you from flashing files either. TWRP for your specific device could still be in development. This is quite common with newer Android devices running the latest Android version (e.g. Sometimes, TWRP cannot even decrypt the data partition, which means you could not access your phone’s internal storage to flash ZIP files. In such a case, you can just connect your Android device to the PC and use the ADB Push command to copy files from your PC to your device. You’d realize that the flashable ZIP of the custom ROM that you transferred has been erased (Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us). Let’s say you’re in the midst of flashing a custom ROM which requires you to wipe the OS in TWRP, sometimes even the data partition/internal storage. For an Android enthusiast (a.k.a flashaholic) But it makes sense to be acquainted with these commands just in case you might need them.Ģ. Note:This is not the ultimate solution, you’d still need to troubleshoot your PC and resolve the issue with the USB drivers.īasically, using ADB Push and Pull commands isn’t something that an average Android user might need. His extensive research and analysis led to the development of a comprehensive model that delineates the relationship between various emotional states. Plutchik's work significantly advanced the field of emotional psychology. Contributions of Psychologist Robert Plutchik to the Understanding of Emotions His model has since gained relevance in various fields, including psychology, sociology, and art. Incorporating diverse influences such as Charles Darwin's insights on emotions in his work, Plutchik aimed to present a holistic approach to understanding and categorizing emotions. Robert Plutchik, an American psychologist, introduced the Wheel of Emotions in the 1980s as a part of his psychoevolutionary theory of emotions. Background and History of Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions The following section will delve into the background and history of the model and the significant contributions of psychologist Robert Plutchik. To effectively utilize Plutchik's model, it is essential to understand its origins and developmental process. For instance, joy combined with trust creates love, while fear combined with surprise leads to submission or awe. Each emotion is positioned opposite its polar opposite on the wheel, and the combinations of these emotions give rise to other nuanced feelings. The eight primary emotions depicted in Plutchik's model include joy, trust, fear, surprise, sadness, anticipation, anger, and disgust. Overview of the Eight Primary Emotions and Their Connections in the Wheel Understanding this model fosters emotional awareness and facilitates the identification of complex emotional experiences. The wheel illustrates the relationship between different emotions, enabling individuals to discern the connections and transitions between primary and derivative emotions. Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions provides a visual representation of the various emotional states individuals experience. Meaning and Purpose of Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions This model, developed by psychologist Robert Plutchik, categorizes emotions into eight primary categories, each with varying strengths and combinations. Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions offers a comprehensive framework for comprehending the spectrum of human emotions. Emotions are complex states that impact our thoughts, behaviors, and interactions.
But I've also noticed that when you apply the function to an RGB image, sometimes the results are visually arresting. The Toolbox function entropyfilt makes doing so simple. (That's what I mean by getting the effect "for free.") I've used entropy filtering several times in the past when I've needed to quantify the local orderedness or randomness of an image, I think of entropy filtering. This image was relatively easy to create. And I liked the opportunity to create (and share) more broadly useful tools that helped me achieve my goals. But I liked the challenge that doing it in MATLAB afforded. And before I get a flood of emails, let me point out that I know that this is not what MATLAB is about, and that it makes more sense to do artistic image manipulations using a special-effects-oriented tool. But I wil MATLAB it for you! So, new goal: Create a gallery of special effects for my safari photos using only MATLAB (and Toolboxes, of course!), and blog about the experience. It always rankles me just a bit when I hear people ask me-_knowing_ my penchant for processing images with MATLAB-to "Photoshop" an image for them. Could I implement these effects in MATLAB? What challenges would I face? And how could I overcome them? But here's the rub: I am a dyed-in-the-wool MATLABber-one who spends a lot of time helping customers tackle their image processing challenges using MATLAB and the Image Processing Toolbox. Special effects-that's Photoshop's wheelhouse, right? In fact, I have a rarely-used license for Adobe's flagship product, and it made sense that this project would have me dusting it off. A Challenge: Use MATLAB to Create a Gallery of Safari Effects So while I was snapping away, capturing images just like the ones the cameras clicking to my left and right were capturing, I hatched a plan: I would create and share a small gallery of safari images set apart by the special effects I was designing for them in my head. That's a lot of pictures-that I knew no one, including myself, would ever want to wade through. Our trip was truly memorable-due in no small part to the 1200 photographs I took in the course of the vacation. (I had been passionate about photography many years ago, but have more recently satisfied myself with snapshots from a small digital point-and-shoot camera.) So hours before our intercontinental flight, I found myself camera-shopping in a big-box electronics store, and after some deliberation, coming home with a new Nikon D5100 and a 55-300mm zoom lens. The morning we were scheduled to leave the US, I began kicking myself: I simply couldn't make this trip without having a better camera. My wife and kids and I recently returned from celebrating a milestone birthday-I'll not say which milestone!-in Namibia, where we spent a couple of weeks on Safari in Etosha National Park. Two GUI Tools to Manage the Manipulations.A Challenge: Use MATLAB to Create a Gallery of Safari Effects. The plaster crew must first assess the existing walls, masonry, or ceilings that need to be plastered. The quality of any plaster job and the degree of adhesion depends, in large part, on the integrity of the surface on which it’s applied. “Each plaster job is unique,” Annino says. Master plasterers work with a spray bottle to keep the plaster wet as they smooth it to a perfect finish. At this point it is ready to be mixed into putty. The reaction is complete when the slaked lime stops giving off heat.Once poured in, the lime and plaster mix is left to “slake” or sit and transform itself. The measurements are inexact to the untrained eye, but very precise to the plasterer who has to “feel it out,” as Gary Annino of Boro Plastering explains. Into this circle he pours water, and then sprinkles the water with plaster.First the plasterer creates a “gauge” that is a circle of putty, banked up like a swimming pool, on the mixing board. This lime putty is used for the finish coat of plaster that is skimmed onto the wall and smoothed to create a hard, shiny finish coat. “This is where art meets science,” Bob says, as he watches the mix being prepared for the lime putty. With a traditional lime finish coat, the plasterer becomes a chemist. Finish coat: The third and final coat is an application of lime putty, which gives plaster walls their smooth, hard, shiny finish. The sand provides a rough texture that gives the light, 1/8-inch finish coat a surface to grip onto. Brown coat: The second rough coat is made of the same mixture and is called the “brown coat.” The brown coat is applied directly to the scratch coat, also at a 3/8-inch thickness, but left unscored.Scratch coat: The first coat is called the “scratch coat” and is applied at 3/8 inch thick then scratched or scored with a comb to give it a rough texture.Boro Plastering works with a ratio of three-to-one, bags of sand to bags of gypsum, for their rough coats. Many firms now work with gypsum since it eliminates the need for added fiber and has a much quicker set up and drying time. The lime is typically derived from limestone or ground oyster shells. These coats form the base of the wall and are mixed of lime or gypsum, aggregate, fiber, and water. The three-coat plaster system begins with two coarse or rough coats.
